Lithuania Expresses Interest in Developing Multilateral Cooperation with Turkmenistan

On May 15, on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Chairwoman of the Mejlis (Parliament) D. Gulmanova received the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Turkmenistan, Kestutis Vaskelavicius.

On behalf of the Head of the Turkmen state, the head of the national Parliament congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment to the high diplomatic post and wished him success in strengthening interstate relations.

In turn, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the friendly country conveyed warm greetings from the top leadership of the Republic of Lithuania to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The Ambassador also emphasized that it is a great honor for him to represent his country in Turkmenistan, which is recognized as a center of peace in the region and stands for the establishment of positive and effective relations for the common good.

During the meeting, the diplomat was briefed on the policy pursued by Turkmenistan aimed at developing equal and mutually beneficial cooperation with interested countries.

The diplomat was also informed about the structure and multifaceted activities of the Mejlis, which is responsible for the legislative and legal support of the fundamental transformations being carried out in Turkmenistan.

An exchange of views took place regarding the prospects for cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Lithuania in bilateral and multilateral formats, including within the framework of reputable international organizations.

At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Kestutis Vaskelavicius assured that he would make every effort to expand interstate dialogue based on friendship, mutual respect, and trust.
