At the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag, the United Nations has declared 2025 the International Year of Peace and Trust. This historic decision not only reflects Turkmenistan's unwavering commitment to the principles of peaceful coexistence, but also symbolically coincides with two major milestones – the 30th anniversary of the country's Permanent Neutrality and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. These anniversaries highlight Turkmenistan’s unique diplomatic mission as a state that actively contributes to global dialogue and stability.
Among the key pillars of sustainable peace is education. It forms the foundation for a mindset based on trust, mutual respect, and cooperation. Teachers and educators play a vital role in shaping the values of younger generations, fostering a culture of peace and shared responsibility.
From August 4 to 8, the National Tourist Zone "Avaza" will become a focal point for the international community. It will host the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs). The decree to hold this important forum was signed on July 4 by the President of Turkmenistan, Arkadagly Hero Serdar. The event will bring together representatives of 32 countries, heads of state and government, the UN Secretary-General, as well as delegates from international organizations, civil society, and the private sector.
The conference program includes five thematic round tables and seven high-level forums, including a Youth Forum and a Meeting of Women Leaders. These events are closely tied to the field of education, as they address issues such as personal development, youth empowerment, and equal opportunity. Side events will focus on youth policy, sustainable energy, and the circular economy – areas that call for the active participation of the education sector.
Turkmenistan has created all necessary conditions for the development and self-realization of its youth, ensuring access to quality education and future-oriented professions. This is a valuable model for countries seeking to offer their citizens a prosperous and dignified future. The initiatives of Hero Arkadag, aimed at promoting peace and a better life for all people, are vividly reflected in the country’s educational progress.
The UN Forum in Avaza will serve as a platform for exchanging experience, introducing innovations, and strengthening partnerships. It is expected that this historic event will not only deepen international cooperation, but also provide a powerful impetus for the further development of educational programs, helping to shape a new generation capable of building a peaceful and thriving future.
