Briefing dedicated to the beginning of the plenary session of the Third UN Conference of Landlocked Developing Countries was held in Avaza

On 5 August 2025, a briefing was held to mark the opening of the plenary session of the Third UN Conference of Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3).

The moderator was the famous Al Arabiya TV presenter Riz Khan.

The briefing was addressed by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov. Also taking part in the briefing was UN Under-Secretary-General, High Representative for the Least Developed, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island States Rabab Fatima.

The speeches highlighted the importance of the LLDC3 conference for the comprehensive development of landlocked countries. The importance of all events and decisions taken at the conference in the context of economic growth, inclusive and sustainable development of these countries was noted.

The importance of LLDC3 was emphasized in light of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the UN.

This was followed by a question-and-answer session.
