In the period of the Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State, the activation of economic, political, and cultural cooperation with foreign countries, the successful implementation of exchange programs in science and education systems, and the deepening of international relations create wide opportunities for modernizing the teaching of foreign languages in our country. The necessary conditions have been created for improving foreign language teaching in our country, and special attention is paid to this direction. Innovative curricula for foreign languages have been developed and implemented for general education schools. The issue of learning and teaching languages is of great importance. The development of science and education is considered the fundamental basis of the country's and society's high-level future.
Under the leadership of our Honorable President, the Arkadagly Hero Serdar, extensive work is currently being carried out in all educational institutions of our country to successfully implement the tasks outlined in the Conceptions "On Improving the Teaching of Foreign Languages in Turkmenistan," "On Developing a Digital Education System in Turkmenistan," and "On Improving the Methodology of Teaching According to General Education Programs in Turkmenistan until 2028," and to integrate their results into the education system. This involves using modern methods of teaching foreign languages to improve the quality of education provided to youth.
Recently, the textbook "Japanese Language" for the 9th grade of general secondary schools in our country was published (authors: H. Ito, N. Katsu, A. Taganova -- A.: Turkmen State Publishing Service, 2025). This textbook fully corresponds to the approved curriculum. It consists of eight chapters: "My Family and I," "Our Daily Life," "Turkmenistan and Japan," "Society and I," "Nature and I," "Culture and I," "Travel and I," "My Future." Each chapter provides texts, dialogues, exercises, and grammatical information corresponding to its theme, and is illustrated with relevant pictures.
Another distinctive feature of the textbook is that the included vocabulary and texts are provided with audio recordings. This is clear evidence of the full implementation of the tasks set by our Honorable President to reach new heights in the national education sector by integrating digital technologies into the education system. This, in turn, develops students' speaking and writing skills. Various exercises are used to reinforce vocabulary. Explanations in Japanese for the information related to the texts are also provided. The texts, dialogues, and exercises in the book will strongly encourage the development of students' reading habits. A bilingual glossary is provided at the end of the textbook. In preparing the textbook, guidance was taken from the modern requirements of contemporary methodology for teaching foreign languages. This book is important for teaching Japanese to students.
