Turkmenistan's Participation in the C5+ONE Central Asia – U.S. Regional Conference

From September 10th to 12th, 2024, a delegation from Turkmenistan’s education, energy, and environmental sectors traveled to Almaty, Kazakhstan, to participate in the regional conference "Shaping Tomorrow: C5+ONE Central Asia – U.S." This significant event brought together professionals from across the region to engage in discussions and workshops focused on energy, environmental sustainability, and English language training.

C5+ONE is a unique regional initiative aimed at developing English language proficiency among entry- and mid-level professionals in Central Asia, particularly those working in the energy and environmental sectors. The program enables representatives of the government sector, civil society, and private companies to improve their English language skills with an emphasis on practical spoken communication.

Since its inception, the program has trained over 1,000 professionals from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, strengthening their ties with American experts. Specialized courses in professional English help participants enhance their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills—all within the context of energy and environmental topics.

During the Almaty conference, participants from Turkmenistan, including professors from the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas and the S. A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University, presented innovative ideas through poster sessions. The topics covered renewable energy sources, recycling, eco-fashion, and methane emission reduction. These educational institutions play a key role in training specialists who can apply their knowledge in the fields of energy and ecology. The event became an important platform for sharing experiences among scholars, professors, and young professionals, promoting the development of new strategies for the region’s sustainable growth.

One of the key parts of the conference was the series of workshops led by U.S. experts and university professors specializing in energy and environmental issues. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the latest technologies and policies while improving their language skills in a professional setting.

Turkmenistan's participation in the C5+ONE program reflects the country's commitment to sustainable development and international cooperation. By investing in the professional growth of young leaders and equipping them with essential language skills, Turkmenistan is helping shape a future where energy and environmental solutions are driven by a well-connected, competent, and English-speaking community.
