Lessons in the exact and natural sciences in general secondary schools are designed to develop students' interest in engineering and technical work, design thinking, invention, and the widespread use of information and communication technologies.
In this regard, a textbook titled "Modeling and Graphics" for the 11th grade of general secondary schools in our country was recently published (authors: K. Udamuradova, E. Amanov. – A.: Turkmen State Publishing Service, 2025). This textbook therefore sets the task of revealing the main stages of modeling to students, developing their ability for model-based thinking, and fostering logical and creative thinking.
The textbook section "The Concept of a Model" consists of four chapters. The "Modeling" section, in turn, includes mastering the stages of problem definition, determining object characteristics, indicators and the connections between them, as well as verifying that the results meet the given condition. Furthermore, the sections "Modeling in a Graphic Environment" and "Technical Drawing" provide for mastering modeling in a graphic environment, using standard geometric tools in modeling, the concept of a technical drawing and its objects, as well as tasks related to constructing views of structures.
Consequently, the content of these sections ensures that school students become familiar with the capabilities of models for comprehending the world around them, understand the connections between natural and life phenomena and their models, learn to build simple models of certain objects and processes using symbols, and apply research skills when working with a model and describing the results obtained. Thus, the textbook contributes to the comprehensive development of skills necessary for future engineers and scientists.
