Studying the rich historical heritage of the Turkmen people is fascinating and especially important for our younger generation. Thus, the information presented on the history of Turkmenistan awakens a sense of great pride in the glorious path traversed by our ancestors.
Recently, the textbook "History of Turkmenistan" was published for the XI grades of secondary schools in our country (authors: A.Nuryyev, G.Nuryyeva, M.Moshev – A.: Turkmen State Publishing Service, 2025). This textbook contains historical information from the end of the 19th century, from 1886, up to the end of the 20th century, namely, until 1991, the period of our sacred Independence. The tutorial consists of two parts. The first part is titled "A new period in the history of Turkmenistan (late 19th – early 20th century)", the second part is "Turkmenistan in the Soviet era (1917-1991)".
While the first part of the textbook describes how, during this period of history, the Turkmen people, facing various difficulties and hardships, managed to preserve and pass on to subsequent generations their national characteristics, identity, language, religion, national values and traditions, the second part of the book provides other interesting information about the state structure, economic life, and general the situation of the people, changes and other notable aspects of life during the Soviet period.
