Ashgabat Hosts Talks on Expanding Turkmenistan–UK Partnership in Education

From 10 to 12 October 2025, within the framework of the International Exhibition and Scientific Conference “Health, Education and Sports in the Era of the Revival of a New Epoch of a Powerful State,” a series of working meetings took place in Ashgabat aimed at strengthening the partnership between Turkmenistan and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the field of education.

On 11 October, at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan Mr. Azat Atayev and representatives of the Ministry of Education held talks with representatives of leading British educational and academic institutions — Mr. Stephen King (Cambridge University Press and Assessment), Mr. Arkadiusz Jaworski (Pearson), Mr. Tom Kiddle (Norwich Institute for Language Education), Mr. Jared Philip and Ms. Beata Krytal (Heriot-Watt University), as well as Mr. Desai Govindbhai Veljibhai (Imperial English UK).

The meetings were also attended by the heads and representatives of specialized higher education institutions — the International University for the Humanities and Development, the International University of Humanities and Entrepreneurs, and the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmammed Azadi.

As part of the visit, the British representatives visited several higher education institutions of Turkmenistan and conducted practical master classes for teachers and students of English. The sessions covered topics such as modern teaching methodologies, language assessment, integration of digital resources into the learning process, preparation for international exams, and the development of communicative skills.

The parties discussed new areas of cooperation, including the introduction of modern language teaching methods, the development of academic mobility, professional development for teachers, and the implementation of joint educational and research projects. Special attention was paid to the digitalization of learning and the development of joint programs in the fields of STEM and language education.

The events marked an important step toward further expanding the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and the United Kingdom in education, science, and innovation, contributing to the strengthening of human capacity and the improvement of education quality in line with international standards.
