More than 56,000 students from Turkmenistan are studying at Russian universities. This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyev at a meeting of the Turkmen-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
"More than 56,000 students from Turkmenistan are studying at universities in the Russian Federation. In this regard, I would like to express my gratitude to the Government of the Russian Federation for allocating quotas for students from Turkmenistan," Atagulyev said.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted the successful operation of the Pushkin Turkmen-Russian School in Ashgabat, which has over 1,800 students. He noted that dozens of secondary schools with Russian as the language of instruction operate in Turkmenistan, and Russian is taught in all general education schools across the country. Atagulyev also mentioned the Magtymguly Secondary School, built in the Astrakhan Region, where the Turkmen language is also taught. "We highly appreciate the steps being taken to further expand cooperation in this area," he said.
