Application of the SBC Concept in Turkmenistan discussed in Ashgabat

An event dedicated to issues of Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) in the context of UNICEF's activities in Turkmenistan was held at the UN building in Ashgabat.

The keynote presentation, titled “What is Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) in the World and in UNICEF?”, was delivered by invited expert Luca Solimeo.

During the session, participants engaged in a detailed discussion on the destigmatization of mental health and the application of the SBC concept in Turkmenistan, including the analysis of the “Parent Portrait” and the results of the pilot parental support program. Special attention was given to the practical “Parent’s Guide for Monitoring the Development of Children Aged 0 to 5 Years.”

An interactive group session focused on mapping behaviors that impact the rights and well-being of children. The discussion concluded with the identification of the role each partner organization plays in influencing social norms and public behavior.
