Within the framework of the XVIII international exhibition and scientific conference “Turkmentel – 2025,” which opened on November 12 in Ashgabat, as well as the international forum “International Transport and Transit Corridors: Connectivity and Development – 2025,” Evgeniy Balychev, Head of the Caspian Region and Central Asia Division at NOKIA, gave an interview to the correspondent of the electronic newspaper “Altyn asyr.” He spoke about opportunities to expand cooperation with Turkmen partners and outlined proposals aimed at the country’s energy sector.
“The international exhibition and conference in Ashgabat are significant events not only for Turkmenistan but also for our company. We have been cooperating closely with the state company ‘Altyn asyr’ in Turkmenistan for over 20 years. Therefore, building a large part of the country’s communication infrastructure based on NOKIA equipment is one of our strategic priorities,” noted the company representative.
According to E. Balychev, one of the key aspects of the cooperation is modernizing national networks in regions where NOKIA supplies equipment. Currently, preparations are underway to expand 5G coverage across the country and make these services accessible to the population.
As the interview highlighted, the implementation of fifth-generation (5G) communication standards will positively impact the development of various sectors of Turkmenistan’s economy, including the fuel and energy complex.
“In the energy sector, it is crucial for enterprises to operate steadily and without interruptions. Considering the conditions of mountainous and remote extraction sites, uninterrupted communication is of particular importance. Our capabilities allow us to implement projects such as installing video surveillance systems at facilities and providing technical support for logistics and navigation services,” emphasized the regional division head.
During the interview, E. Balychev noted that technological upgrades are being implemented in stages, highlighting the need to bring the system to a new level, and that Turkmenistan’s digital market is ready for innovative solutions.
“We consider this period the most favorable for expanding cooperation with ‘Altyn asyr’ and offering new types of services to government agencies, hydrocarbon extraction companies, and logistics centers. Our goal is effective collaboration,” concluded the interviewee.
