Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Mämmethan Çakyýew, in his speech at the “TurkmenTel – 2025” and “International Transport Corridors: Connectivity and Development – 2025” meetings, reported on measures being implemented to position the country among the world’s leading digital states and to achieve a new level of economic development.
According to Çakyýew, large-scale programs are currently being successfully implemented to modernize the national economy, develop modern transport systems, advance the digital economy, establish an “e-government” system, and expand the potential of artificial intelligence and cloud technologies. These programs place special emphasis on training highly skilled professionals and expanding information and communication infrastructure.
As an example, the Deputy Prime Minister mentioned Turkmenistan’s first “smart” city, Arkadag. In this city, advanced digital, information-communication, and “green” technologies have been widely implemented, including the broad use of the 5G communication standard. These initiatives indicate the beginning of a new phase in Turkmenistan’s digital development.
Highlighting logistics potential, Çakyýew noted that Turkmenistan’s favorable geo-economic location creates significant opportunities to fully utilize its international transit capacity. In this regard, new transport-transit corridors are being developed along the “East–West” and “North–South” directions, which provide wide opportunities to strengthen mutually beneficial trade and economic relations across the Eurasian space.
According to Mämmethan Çakyýew, these efforts are closely linked to the “Open Doors” policy pursued by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, as well as political, economic, and legal conditions based on equal and mutually beneficial interstate relations. The Turkmen side is ready to discuss proposals for developing mutually beneficial cooperation and implementing new investment projects.
