On November 17, talks were held in Tashkent between Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The two sides focused on the development of the energy sector.
President Berdimuhamedov noted that energy is a priority area of cooperation between the two countries. As noted, Turkmen electricity is currently being exported to Uzbekistan.
President Berdimuhamedov emphasized that an effective partnership is also developing in the gas sector, declaring his readiness to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation based on mutually acceptable terms. They also noted the advisability of continuing discussions on strategic cooperation in the gas sector.
At the same time, they noted the importance of effectively realizing the existing potential for developing partnerships in such sectors as agriculture, chemicals, mechanical engineering, metallurgy, construction, environmental technology, textiles, and pharmaceuticals.
