In connection with the 30th anniversary of the first recognition of Turkmenistan’s Permanent Neutrality by the United Nations, large-scale events filled with a spirit of enthusiasm were organized throughout the country.
On this occasion, the Lebap Regional Museum of History and Local Lore, together with the regional committee of the DPT, held a festive conference. As part of the event, a ceremony was also held to open a large-scale museum exhibition. Representatives of the museum, public organizations and political parties, elders, employees of regional and district courts, customs, justice and police departments, teachers and students of the Turkmenabat Finance and Economics Secondary Vocational School, as well as library workers took part in the conference titled “Holiday of Friendship and Brotherhood – the Song of Neutrality and Peace.”
During the conference, speeches were heard about the important role of Turkmenistan’s status of Permanent Neutrality in the political, economic, cultural and social development of the country, as well as in maintaining regional and international peace. It was noted that the traditions of humanism, friendship, and goodwill inherited from ancestors find their worthy place in the state policy under the leadership of the esteemed President. Thus, the peace-loving course of the state fully reveals the essence of the status of Permanent Neutrality, which has been recognized three times by the UN.
The conference continued with the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Neutrality — the Source of Peaceful Development.” After the ceremonial speeches, the participants became acquainted with museum valuables, documents explaining the essence of neutrality, works of applied art, painting and craftsmanship, as well as photographic works. The exhibits reflecting the country’s economic development and achievements in education, healthcare, culture, and sports left a particularly strong impression on the guests.
A special section of the exhibition featured Turkmen national cultural assets included in UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This demonstrated the high respect of the international community, including the UN, for the country’s glorious history, its current development, and its peace-loving policy.
