On December 2, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in the Mary velayat on a working visit, where he inspected the pace of seasonal agricultural work and the implementation of tasks arising from the National Rural Program. The head of state held a working meeting with agricultural sector leaders to discuss the development of the agro-industrial complex and ongoing research activities in this area.
At the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Tangryguly Atakhalliyev reported on the work being carried out by the country's grain, agricultural, and cotton research institutes, as well as on measures being taken to develop scientifically based agriculture and seed production, and on the progress of seasonal agricultural campaigns in the country, particularly in the Mary velayat.
After hearing the report, the head of state noted the importance of diversifying the work of research institutes in developing the country's agricultural sector, issuing a number of specific instructions to the Deputy Prime Minister in this regard.
Furthermore, during the working meeting, reports were presented on ongoing agricultural reforms in the country, comprehensive research projects to improve the fertility of agricultural lands, and the testing of new varieties of various crops, which make extensive use of the latest technical achievements and advanced technologies.
The work of plant breeders to develop high-yielding varieties adapted to the country's soil and climatic conditions was also reported.
Summarizing the above, the head of state emphasized the importance of attaching great importance to the quality of research in crop breeding and seed production, and the effective study of advanced global practices and modern agricultural technologies.
Noting that improving the qualifications and experience of scientists in this field should be a top priority, the President of Turkmenistan issued a number of specific instructions to the relevant officials.
