Universiade Kicks Off in Ashgabat in Honor of the 30th Anniversary of Turkmenistan's Permanent Neutrality

The opening ceremony of the Universiade for higher education students, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, took place in Ashgabat. The sports forum is also being held under the auspices of the International Year of Peace and Trust.

At the colorful opening ceremony, Turkmen students presented dances of the peoples of the world. During the competitions, participants will test their strength in 20 sports, including athletics, swimming, basketball, handball, futsal, sambo, Greco-Roman and national wrestling, as well as chess and tennis.

The competitions began at the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, featuring the first disciplines—volleyball, basketball, and futsal. The annual Universiades reflect the country's commitment to developing high-performance sports and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
