On December 7, a ceremony was held at the administration of the capital for the presentation of the Certificate confirming Ashgabat’s inclusion in the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities.
On December 4, Ashgabat was admitted to the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities, along with 72 cities from 46 countries around the world. This decision recognized the high achievements of Turkmenistan’s capital in the development of science and education, as well as in creating opportunities for lifelong learning for citizens of all ages.
Established in 2013 and currently encompassing 425 cities worldwide, the Global Network highly valued the special efforts and commitment of the new member cities to implement, at the local level, the right of people of all ages to education.
Ashgabat’s admission to the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities is an important step in the international recognition of Turkmenistan’s efforts to develop human capital and build a society focused on knowledge and innovation.
