The 116th Session of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Council opened in Geneva on December 8. The delegation of Turkmenistan, headed by Deputy Chairman of the State Migration Service Dowran Bayramov, is taking part in the session.
In his speech, Dowran Bayramov outlined Turkmenistan’s position on key issues of migration policy, emphasizing the need for coordinated international cooperation and a comprehensive approach to managing migration processes. He highlighted the importance of integrating global framework documents — including the 2030 Agenda and the Global Compacts on Migration and Refugees — into national development strategies.
The efforts of Turkmenistan aimed at modernizing its migration system were also presented, including the simplification of legal migration channels, improvement of entry and exit procedures, and ensuring equal social and labor rights for migrants.
