The opening ceremony of the monument to Magtymguly Fragi took place in Astana

Today, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan, took part in the opening ceremony of the monument to the great poet and philosopher of the East Magtymguly Fragi, erected in Astana. 

The celebration, which took place in the year of the international celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the brilliant master of words, clearly demonstrates the deep cultural and spiritual ties between the two fraternal peoples, the inviolability of friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.

The total height of the monument to Magtymguly Fragi erected in Astana is about 8 and a half meters. The great poet and philosopher is depicted in full growth. The sculptor captured the image of Magtymguly Fragi at the moment of creativity, as evidenced by the pen in his right hand, touching a symbolic sheet of paper. The territory adjacent to the monument is landscaped and greened. 

As is known, on the 17th of May, a monument to the great son of the Turkmen people and the cultural and park complex «Magtymguly Pyragy» were solemnly opened in Ashgabat with the participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. This large-scale project was implemented on the initiative of the Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who dedicated his inspired poem «Pähim-paýhas ummany Magtymguly Pyragy» to the founder of national classical literature. It is noteworthy that the territory of the new park, located in the picturesque foothills of Kopetdag, also features sculptures of famous artists from different countries, including Kazakhstan. This is another visible symbol of friendship and brotherhood of peoples, which Magtymguly sang in his immortal poems.
