Hero Arkadag congratulates the President of Turkmenistan on the inclusion of the tradition of breeding alabay dogs in the UNESCO List

The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, sent a congratulatory message to the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedow, on the occasion of the inclusion of the national program “Traditions of Breeding Turkmen Alabay Dogs” in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The congratulatory letter notes that the initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan, aimed at preserving the country’s historical and cultural values and promoting them internationally, deserve the broad support of UNESCO and all member states of the organization. The decision to support the program “Traditions of Breeding Turkmen Alabay Dogs,” presented by Turkmenistan and adopted at the most recent session of the UNESCO Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in New Delhi, India, clearly confirms this.

The letter also states: “Turkmen Alabays are an integral part of our unique national culture. These remarkable animals have come down to our time from ancient periods as symbols of loyalty, courage, and valor.” In this way, Turkmen Alabays are highly valued.
