Turkmenistan Participates in the 11th Global Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations in Riyadh

On December 14, a delegation of Turkmenistan led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Gurbanov took part in the 11th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The forum, dedicated to the theme “UNAOC: Two Decades of Dialogue for Humanity — Advancing a New Era of Mutual Respect and Understanding in a Multipolar World,” brought together representatives of national governments, youth and women leaders, as well as representatives of civil society institutions and media organizations from around the world.

In his address, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Gurbanov emphasized the growing importance of the UN Alliance of Civilizations amid a crisis of trust and increasing polarization in international relations, noting the consonance of its activities with Turkmenistan’s initiative to proclaim 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust. In this context, he presented Turkmenistan’s initiatives proposed for joint implementation with the UN Alliance of Civilizations, including the promotion of a culture of peace and mediation, the development of humanitarian and intercultural dialogue, the establishment of regional and youth platforms for peacebuilding cooperation, as well as the strengthening of trust and mutual understanding among peoples.

Following the forum, the Riyadh Declaration was adopted, defining the next stage of development of the Alliance.
