On February 11, 2026, an international football match between the Arkadag and Al-Nasr football teams of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will take place at the Olympic Stadium in Ashgabat as part of the Round of 16 of the AFC Champions League II, organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). This match is a significant event in the sporting life of our country.
Extensive preparatory work is underway to ensure the match is held at a high level of organization and to create comfortable conditions for foreign guests, delegations, referees, athletes, and spectators. For this purpose, 500 volunteers have been selected from among students of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports.
Furthermore, a special team of 15 volunteers fluent in foreign languages has been created to work with foreign guests and football teams, as well as a volunteer media team of 15 students majoring in Sports Journalism, who will provide media services. Fifty faculty members from our university have been appointed responsible for overall volunteer work.
Special training sessions for volunteers will be held from January 13 to 22, 2026. During the training, volunteers will learn about the role of athletes at sporting competitions, etiquette, effective communication with spectators, service culture, safety rules, emergency procedures, and will also receive comprehensive information on international sporting protocol.
Currently, the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan and the Football Federation of Turkmenistan are continuing their organizational work to ensure the AFC Champions League 2 match is held at the highest level.
