A New Chapter Opens in Educational Cooperation Between Turkmenistan and the State of Qatar

On January 27, 2026, a meeting was held between the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, J. Gurbangeldiyev, and a delegation of the State of Qatar headed by Salem Nasser Al-Naemi, Rector of Doha University of Science and Technology. The visit of the Doha University of Science and Technology delegation to Turkmenistan is of great significance as an important event aimed at elevating educational cooperation between the higher education institutions of the two countries to a new level.

During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding on Scientific and Academic Cooperation between the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan and Doha University of Science and Technology of the State of Qatar was solemnly signed. This document establishes a legal framework for conducting joint research activities, organizing exchanges of faculty members and students, as well as expanding cooperation in the field of modern technologies.

In addition, within the framework of the visit, meetings were held with the rectors of the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan and the Oguz Han University of Engineering and Technology of Turkmenistan. During these meetings, specific proposals on priority areas of cooperation were presented to the Qatari side. In particular, special attention was paid to the implementation of joint projects in the fields of digital technologies, engineering disciplines, information security, and innovative educational programs.

The Qatari side expressed great interest in the proposals put forward by the Turkmen side and declared its full readiness to implement them. This clearly demonstrates that long-term and effective cooperation between the educational institutions of the two countries will be successfully established.

It is worth noting that this visit by the delegation of Doha University of Science and Technology is a logical continuation of the official visit of the Turkmen delegation led by the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan to the city of Doha in 2024, serving as clear evidence that previously reached agreements are now being transformed into concrete practical steps.

Overall, this strategic cooperation between Turkmenistan and the State of Qatar in the fields of education and science will significantly enhance the international reputation of the national higher education system, promote innovative development, and contribute to the formation of a new generation of globally competitive professionals.
