Turkmen students’ success at the BIMO-2026 and BIChO-2026 international Olympiads

Recently, major intellectual competitions for students, namely BIMO-2026 and BIChO-2026, were held in Bukhara, Uzbekistan.

The Olympiads were held at Bukhara State University (Bukhara, Uzbekistan) from January 25 to 28, 2026. BIMO-2026: International Mathematics Olympiad. BIChO-2026: International Chemistry Olympiad.

Over 500 students and 100 teams from more than 10 countries, including Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Jordan, and Tajikistan, participated in the competition.

The Olympiad consisted of several stages:

• Individual Round: Students competed individually, solving complex problems in mathematics and chemistry.
• Team Round: Participants worked in groups, representing their educational institutions.

At the same time, professors and teachers met to share experiences in teaching methods in the exact sciences. Participants also enjoyed excursions to the historical monuments of Bukhara.

The Olympiad concluded triumphantly for many participants, especially the Turkmen students. Students from Turkmen higher educational institutions demonstrated outstanding results, winning a total of 46 medals (17 gold, 17 silver, and 12 bronze).

Organizers in Bukhara typically follow the standards of international competitions (analogous to the IMC for mathematics and the IChO for chemistry), but with their own twist.

For BIMO (Mathematics) participants:

• Mathematical Analysis: Limits, Series, and Improper Integrals.
• Linear Algebra: Matrices, Determinants, and Finite-Dimensional Spaces.
• Number Theory and Combinatorics: Divisibility Problems and Graphs.

For BIChO (Chemistry) participants:

• Inorganic Chemistry: Chemistry of Transition Metals and Complex Compounds.
• Organic Chemistry: Reaction Mechanisms and Synthesis Chains.
• Physical Chemistry: Thermodynamics, Kinetics, and Electrochemistry.

Participation in the BIMO-2026 and BIChO-2026 international olympiads was a significant event for students. Beyond the competition itself, they were most impressed by the opportunity to meet students from all over the world who shared common interests. For the students, this was not only a test of their mathematical and chemical abilities but also an opportunity to establish friendly contacts. The success achieved by our youth demonstrates that our younger generation, by realizing their potential in science, education, art, culture, and sports, is making a worthy contribution to the scientific and educational policy pursued by Hero Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar.
