From 29 January to 2 February 2026, one of the most prestigious international events in the field of science and technology — the World Youth Science, Innovation and Invention Competition (WYSII 2026) — was held in Bangkok, the capital of the Kingdom of Thailand. The competition brought together the most talented young innovators from around the world and became a vibrant platform for the celebration of cutting-edge ideas and scientific creativity.
A total of 715 students and 232 research teams from countries including Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Italy, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Bangladesh, Mexico, and Turkmenistan took part in the competition. In this highly competitive environment, students from Turkmenistan’s higher education institutions distinguished themselves through their outstanding projects and strong scientific preparation.
The representatives of Turkmenistan achieved the highest awards of the competition, significantly enhancing the country’s international reputation. Mekan Rozymyradow, a student of the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan, presented the project entitled “Innovative Methods for Producing an Environmentally Friendly, Highly Sustainable Keratin-Based Bioplastic Material”, which addresses important environmental protection issues. He was awarded the Top 5 Awards Gold Medal as well as the Panel’s Choice Award, a special distinction granted by the review committee.
Another Turkmen project, “HeartStep – A Project to Help Develop First Communication Skills”, prepared by Jeyhun Jumashov and Baynazar Muhammedov, students of the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan, also received high recognition. The team was awarded the Top 5 Awards Gold Medal and the Best Presentation Award for their clear and effective project explanation.
Students Muhammetaly Hangeldiyev and Yhlas Kurbanov from the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University presented the project “Observer – A Project Aimed at Improving the Quality of Books and Eliminating Mistakes.” This innovative initiative was honored with both the Special Award and the Gold Award.
The victories achieved in Bangkok are a clear demonstration of the significant attention given to education and science in Turkmenistan, as well as international recognition of the innovative initiatives of Turkmen youth. Turkmen engineers, IT specialists, and agricultural professionals have shown that they are not only highly educated, but also capable of offering modern solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
