A backup solar photovoltaic (PV) system has been installed at School No. 33 in the village of Nurly Zaman in Ahal velayat. Its installation was supported by UNICEF in partnership with the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.
The solar installation ensures the operation of water pumps for the school's water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) systems using solar energy. This reduces dependence on traditional electricity grids and contributes to the transition of public institutions to renewable energy sources. The accumulated energy also guarantees the operation of water pumps and lighting in case of power supply interruptions, providing 305 schoolchildren and 35 staff members with constant access to water supply and hygiene services.
The equipment installation was implemented within the framework of the joint program of the Ministry of Education and UNICEF "Green School". All equipment was installed, tested and put into operation in accordance with technical standards and safety regulations. School staff underwent necessary training to ensure safe and long-term operation of the system.
