On February 28th, students from the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan participated in the 18th Japanese Language Speech Contest, organized by the Embassy of Japan in Turkmenistan. The competition was held at the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmammet Azady.
Students competed in two categories: beginner Japanese and advanced Japanese. In the beginner category, students were tasked with reciting a given fairy tale from memory with artistic expression. In this category, Meylis Islimov, a student of the Language Learning Department at the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan, won the 2nd place prize, and Gulshat Tolekova was awarded an incentive prize.
In the advanced Japanese language category of the contest, students were evaluated based on their artistic delivery of essays written on free topics from memory, as well as their ability to correctly answer questions provided by the jury.In this category, Ogulsheker Sahedova, a 2nd-year Biotechnology student at the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan, won the 1st place prize. Jeren Charyyeva, a 2nd-year Philology student, won the 3rd place prize, and Jumasoltan Babanazarowa, also a 2nd-year Philology student, was awarded an incentive prize.
The successful students were presented with valuable gifts, such as tablets and smartphones, by Japanese companies. Students who secured 1st and 2nd place in the advanced Japanese category earned the right to participate in the Japanese Language Speech Contest to be held among the countries of Central Asia.
