In Turkmenistan, protecting public health is a national priority, reflecting the principle that “The health of the people is the wealth of the nation.” Under modern conditions, the training of qualified mid-level medical specialists capable of effectively preventing, diagnosing, and treating diseases is of particular importance.
In this context, a new textbook entitled “Oncology” has been published for the country’s medical secondary educational institutions (authors: J. Khojamyradov and N.Soyunguliyeva. — Ashgabat: Turkmen State Publishing Service, 2026). The textbook consists of two sections: “General Oncology” and “Special Oncology.” The publication provides key information on the history and development of oncology, the epidemiology and classification of tumors, and modern approaches to diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of oncological diseases.
Special attention is given to the early detection of cancer, risk factors contributing to its development, and contemporary methods of prevention and control. The new publication is expected to contribute to improving the quality of medical training and further strengthening the national healthcare system.
