Independence marked a turning point in the history of Turkmenistan, opening broad opportunities for the comprehensive development of the state and society. It contributed to strengthening national identity, reviving cultural values, and establishing a modern system of education, science, and youth development.
In today’s world, fostering students’ understanding of their country’s recent history is of particular importance. Knowledge of national development, socio-political processes, and state priorities forms the foundation of patriotism and civic responsibility.
In this context, a new textbook entitled “History of Turkmenistan” (author: Y. Orazgylyjov, Ashgabat: Turkmen State Publishing Service, 2026) has been published for Grade 12 students of secondary schools.
The textbook consists of three sections and twelve chapters, covering key stages of the country’s development—from independence and early reforms to the present period of stable growth. It is designed to develop students’ systematic understanding and analytical thinking.
