Restoration work has been carried out on the monument of the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, Balkh province, Afghanistan. These works were implemented based on the initiative of Haji Mohammad Hashim Wali Zada, chairman of the "Akýol" social and cultural organization, with the financial support of Turkmens living in Afghanistan.
On March 31, the monument was ceremoniously reopened after the restoration works. The event was attended by representatives of the Turkmen diaspora and employees of the Consulate General of Turkmenistan in Afghanistan. Also present at the opening ceremony were the Mayor of Mazar-i-Sharif, Abdul Rahman Hemmet, the head of the representation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan in Balkh province, Mawlawi Aminuallah Sadyk, religious scholars, teachers, cultural figures, and representatives of social organizations.
During the event, speakers emphasized that the rich literary heritage of the great Turkmen master of words is significant for world culture as a whole. The important role of Magtymguly Pyragy's creative work in educating the young generation in the national spirit was also highlighted.
