As part of the state policy to support young talents, the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan held the annual review for graduates of the country’s music schools – “Ýaş zehin” (“Young Talent”). About 140 young musicians from all regions of the country participated in the competition in the following categories: piano, string, percussion, and wind instruments, as well as national instruments, the art of bakhshi, vocal performance, and choreography.
Participants from Ashgabat and the Ahal velayat performed in person, demonstrating mastery of themselves and their instruments in live stage conditions. Meanwhile, contestants from remote regions participated remotely, submitting video recordings of their performances for the jury’s review.
The competition revealed new talents in the categories of folk, national, and percussion instruments, as well as choreography. The largest number of awards were won by the current graduates of Children’s Music School No. 1 in Ashgabat, including vocal nominee prize-winner Shirin Jumayeva, pianist Tylla Shirova, and violinist Aida Mammedova.
