Student of the Turkmen Agricultural University wins victory in Astana

Medet Materov, a 2nd-year student at the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University, won 1st place in an international competition and was awarded the distinguished title of "Best Student of Central Asia." The winner was presented with a special diploma, a certificate, a commemorative trophy, and a lapel pin. This was reported on the university's official website.

The international competition titled "Best Student of Central Asia" was held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, between February 5 and 10, 2026. Organized by the "Bilim Innowasiýa" center and the "Academy of Best Students," the event featured more than 350 talented youths from across the region.

On April 13, a ceremonial event was held at the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University to honor the international winner. As noted during the ceremony, the year «Independent neutral Turkmenistan − the homeland of purposeful winged horses», which marks the 35th anniversary of glorious Independence, is filled with successes for the university. Speakers emphasized that Medet Materov's prestigious award is another triumph for Turkmen education on the international stage.

Medet Materov has distinguished himself in several competitions previously. He earned 3rd place in the "Digital Solution — 2025" contest, and 1st place in both the "ICT Start-up" competition and the international scientific project contest "Agro-innovations: The Bright Path of Sustainable Development." It was also noted that the young scientist actively participated in the students' science week at the Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography and various online Olympiads.

The young student conducts scientific research on medicinal plants at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. Drawing inspiration from the book "Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan" by the Hero-Arkadag, he developed a special spray-based medicinal remedy from mint and dandelion plants that helps eliminate tobacco dependency. This innovative project received high praise from experts.

Students of the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University consistently show high results in international competitions. Notably, in 2024, Dawud Dowletow also won the title of "Best Student of Turkic Peoples." Such successes are a clear result of the wide opportunities created for youth in our country and the great trust placed in them.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, participants expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Hero-Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar for creating all the necessary conditions for the younger generation to receive an education and engage in scientific pursuits.
