In accordance with the State Program “Development of the Digital Economy in Turkmenistan for 2026–2028 and the Action Plan for its Implementation,” approved by the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, and in order to fulfill the tasks set by the esteemed Arkadagly Hero President to educate a well-educated and comprehensively developed young generation, to engage students in scientific activities and identify talented youth, to introduce innovations into the field of science and education, and to implement independent monitoring of education quality, the 4th International Open Internet Olympiad in Informatics was held on 15–16 April 2026 at the International University of Oil and Gas named after Yagshygeldi Kakaev, with the participation of students from higher education institutions of our country and foreign countries.
The 4th International Open Internet Olympiad in Informatics among students of higher education institutions demonstrates the consistent implementation of a digital education system in Turkmenistan and shows that our youth are confidently mastering innovative technologies.
On 15–16 April 2026, the opening ceremony of the 4th International Open Internet Olympiad in Informatics was held in the main building of the university. At the opening ceremony, the Rector of the Yagshygeldi Kakaev International Oil and Gas University delivered a speech, congratulating the participating students and their academic supervisors and wishing them great success. In addition to the faculty members and students, the ceremony was also attended in digital format by students of higher education institutions from foreign countries and their supervisors.
A total of 793 students from 57 higher education institutions in 16 countries took active part in the international olympiad.
In the Olympiad, a total of 404 students took part in the online format from foreign countries, namely the Federal Republic of Germany, Romania, Malaysia, Georgia, the People’s Republic of China, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Türkiye, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Libya, the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Republic of Tajikistan.
At the Olympiad, students from the National Research Technical University named after K.I. Satbayev of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Bukhara State University of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Polotsk State University named after Yefrosiniya of Polotsk of the Republic of Belarus, the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan, the Yagshygeldi Kakaev International Oil and Gas University, the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan, the Institute of National Security of Turkmenistan, as well as the Oguz Khan University of Engineering and Technology of Turkmenistan, distinguished themselves in particular and won prize-winning places.
Based on the total number of points calculated using specially developed national software by the Yagshygeldi Kakaev International Oil and Gas University, the individual winners of the Olympiad were determined. The students declared as winners, as well as the winners of the team competition, were awarded diplomas of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degrees by the Rector of the university.
