Turkmenistan continues to enhance its education system in line with international standards, accompanied by the publication of modern academic and methodological materials. Particular emphasis is placed on training highly qualified specialists and advancing the humanities.
In this context, a study guide titled “20th Century Turkmen Linguistics” has recently been published for higher education institutions (author: Kh. Durdyyev. — Ashgabat: Ylym Publishing House, 2026. — 244 pages). The publication covers key topics of the specialized course and is based on contemporary achievements in linguistic research.
The book examines major issues in the development of the Turkmen literary language in the 20th century, analyzing research trends and their outcomes. It highlights topics such as the history of the language, alphabet reforms, orthographic standards, terminology development, and the evolution of phonetic and grammatical systems. The stages of development of Turkmen linguistics are traced, and its key characteristics are evaluated.
The study guide is intended for students of philology faculties, postgraduate researchers, educators, and specialists interested in the history of Turkmen linguistics.
