Currently, the large-scale regional environmental forum Regional Eco Summit 2026 EXPO is taking place in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. A delegation from Turkmenistan is participating in the event, which includes students from the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University, the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan, and the Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute. The young specialists delivered presentations on climate change and environmental education, and also proposed disseminating the experience of the "Climate Box" and "Green Schools" projects—which are being successfully implemented in Turkmenistan in cooperation with UNICEF—at the regional level.
Within the framework of the forum, the Central Asian Conference "Climate Leadership of Central Asia: State and Business Partnership" was also held. Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan Azat Atayev delivered a welcoming speech at its opening. In his address, he highlighted the strategic importance of the Turkmen President's initiatives to establish a specialized center for desertification issues and a center for the development of climate technologies under the auspices of the UN.
Azat Atayev also spoke about the systematic work being done to integrate green skills and environmental literacy into the country's education system. According to him, based on the results of foresight studies conducted jointly with the International Labour Organization, the European Training Foundation, and the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training, the Atlas of Future Professions was developed, identifying 13 new specialties related to the green transition.
