Art plays an important role in the spiritual and cultural development of the younger generation. It gives people vivid impressions, develops aesthetic appreciation, and fosters love for the Motherland, native nature, and national traditions. A person who understands and values art gains a deeper awareness of the rich cultural heritage of their people and strives to preserve it for future generations.
Recently, the textbook “Fine Arts” for 5th-grade students of general education secondary schools with Russian-language instruction was republished (authors: V.Amangeldiyev, B.Akiyev — Ashgabat: Turkmen State Publishing Service, 2026). The updated edition has been prepared in accordance with modern educational standards and is aimed at developing students’ artistic thinking, encouraging creativity, and introducing them to the cultural heritage of the Turkmen people.
The textbook consists of four thematic sections: “The Art of My People,” “Decorative and Applied Arts of Our People,” “Fine Arts of Our People,” and “The Image of Humanity and Nature in the Works of World Artists.”
Particular importance is attached to the study of national art, which reflects the centuries-old traditions of the Turkmen people. Unique carpet and embroidery ornaments, as well as exquisite jewelry created by talented craftsmen of the past, represent an invaluable part of the national cultural heritage. Today, Turkmenistan is creating broad opportunities for the further development and promotion of national art, preserving its originality, and passing rich traditions on to the younger generation.
