Turkmenistan and Belarus discussed cooperation between medical universities

A delegation from the Myrat Garryev State Medical University of Turkmenistan visited the Gomel State Medical University (GSMU) on a business visit from May 6 to 7, 2026. This was reported on the website of the Belarusian university.

The delegation included: Head of the Academic Department Geldimurad Jumagulyyev, Head of the Science Department Garabeg Goshayev, Head of the Department of Neurosurgery and Neurology and Chief Freelance Neurosurgery Specialist of Turkmenistan Sahit Annanepesov, and Assistant at the Department of Faculty Therapy Sohbet Gurbanalyyev.

During the visit, meetings were held with the leadership of GSMU: Rector Irina Nazarenko, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Viktor Melnik, Vice-Rector for International Relations Svetlana Anashkina, as well as a number of heads of specialized departments.

As a result of the negotiations, the parties reached agreements on cooperation in the field of academic mobility, including student and faculty exchanges.

The Turkmen side expressed particular interest in the organization of the military department at GSMU, given that the Turkmen Medical University has its own military faculty. The guests also visited the university's simulation and certification center and familiarized themselves with its operations in the context of the planned establishment of a similar center in Ashgabat.
