A delegation of Turkmenistan led by Nurmuhammet Shyhlyýew, Vice-Rector of the International University for the Humanities and Development, is on a visit to Japan. On May 14, the Turkmen delegation met with Yano Kazuhiko, Senior Vice-Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on its official website.
According to the report, the meeting focused on expanding scholarship opportunities, increasing the participation of Turkmen students in Japan's MEXT (Monbukagakusho) program, creating a special quota or country-specific slots for Turkmenistan, and developing educational fields such as STEM, engineering, artificial intelligence, and the environment. Discussions also included sending teachers through the Japan Foundation and other organizations, establishing Japanese language centers in Ashgabat higher education institutions, providing textbooks and digital resources, organizing training programs for local teachers, introducing Japanese technical education models (KOSEN-style colleges), and conducting joint scientific research on "smart" classroom technologies, robotics, and "green" technologies.
During a meeting on May 15 with Shinya Sayu, Head of the International Department of the Japanese organization "SPRIX Inc.", the sides discussed opportunities for developing bilateral cooperation in the scientific and educational fields, creating digital educational and assessment services, developing curricula, introducing the TOFAS assessment test into the education system of Turkmenistan, establishing exchange programs, and developing cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).
