On June 1, the grand opening ceremony of the second round of the international scientific and project competition on ecology titled "The Role of Youth in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals," held among students of domestic and foreign higher education institutions, took place in the grand conference hall of the S. A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University (TAUX).
This international event was organized on the occasion of World Environment Day and the glorious 35th anniversary of Independence of Turkmenistan. The solemn event, held in the grand conference hall of TAUX acting as the organizer of the competition, was attended by the university leadership, professors, student youth, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of our country.
As noted during the opening ceremony, under the wise leadership of esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and based on the initiatives of Hero-Arkadag, the environmental policy is being successfully implemented in our country. The international competition was organized to enhance the creative abilities of student youth, stimulate their interest in scientific research, and draw the attention of young people to critical issues such as food security, environmental protection, and the rational use of natural resources.
According to the regulations, the scientific works of the students who participated in the first (preliminary) round of the competition were extensively analyzed by the jury panel, and the best projects were advanced to the second round. During the main stage, which will run from June 1 to June 5, students participating from various parts of the world will defend their scientific projects online with presentations via the Internet.
The international scientific-project competition is conducted across 6 main areas in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations. The candidates will compete against each other in categories such as zero hunger, clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, climate action, and the conservation of marine and terrestrial ecosystems.
At the conclusion of the competition, the Ist, IInd, and IIIrd places will be determined based on the total scores accumulated across all criteria. The winners of the project competition will be awarded diplomas of the respective degrees and memorable gifts by the Rector of the S. A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University.
