Turkmenistan reviews 5-month progress in education, medicine, and sports

On June 5, during a government meeting, Batyr Mammedov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, reported on the performance of subordinate structures for January–May of this year. This was reported by an online newspaper «Turkmenistan: Golden age».

According to the report, school and university students participated in international subject competitions, including online events, winning a total of 871 medals during the period under review.

Reforms aimed at enhancing the country's scientific potential also continued throughout the reporting period. A total of 116 individuals were admitted to postgraduate programs and degree candidacy, while 31 doctoral and candidate dissertations were successfully defended.

In January–May 2026, consistent steps were taken to introduce advanced prevention and therapy methods into medical practice. Various surgeries and treatments for children in need were funded by the Charity Fund for Providing Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

During the same period, Turkmen athletes demonstrated strong results in international competitions, securing a total of 301 medals.

After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of properly organizing operations within the sectors of science, education, healthcare, and sports.

In this context, the Head of State instructed officials to continue stimulating the interest of talented youth in science, education, and new technologies, to improve the operations of healthcare institutions, and to actively encourage the younger generation to participate in sports.
