The 46th meeting of the Intergovernmental Council for Cooperation in the field of Veterinary Medicine is being held in Ashgabat

On October 22, 2024, the 46th meeting of the Intergovernmental Council for Cooperation in the Field of Veterinary Medicine began in Ashgabat (Turkmenistan).

The meeting is attended by members of the Council and plenipotentiary representatives of the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, basic organizations, as well as a representative of the CIS Executive Committee.

Minister of Agriculture of Turkmenistan Chetiev Charyar opened the event and delivered a welcoming speech.

Nuriyev Dovlet, Head of the State Veterinary Service under the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan, was elected Chairman of the Intergovernmental Council for Cooperation in the Field of Veterinary Medicine.

The agenda of the Council meeting includes a wide range of issues related to ensuring epizootic well–being in the CIS member states.

The heads of delegations provided information on the epizootic situation in the CIS member States.

The council members discussed information on the implementation of joint measures of the CIS member states for the prevention and control of foot–and-mouth disease, rabies, avian influenza and Newcastle disease for the period up to 2025, prepared by the basic organization of States – CIS participants on advanced training and retraining of personnel in the field of diagnosis and control of animal diseases by the federal State budgetary institution "Federal Center for Animal Health Protection" (Russian Federation), as well as projects of joint action complexes for the prevention and control of especially dangerous diseases of animals and birds for the period up to 2030.

The members of the Council supported the proposal on the need to develop cooperation between the CIS member states in the field of quality control of genetic material and medicines for veterinary use and decided to give the federal state budgetary institution "All–Russian State Center for Quality and Standardization of Medicines for Animals and Feed" the status of a basic organization of states – CIS participants in advanced training and retraining of personnel in the field of quality control of genetic material, medicines for veterinary use and food raw materials of animal origin.

Following the meeting, the members of the council will make decisions, the implementation of which will make a significant contribution to ensuring food security in the CIS area.
