In order to develop close cooperation in the fields of science and education between the Yagshygeldi Kakaev International Oil and Gas University and the China University of Petroleum, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in 2023.
On April 16, 2026, an Agreement was signed between the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of China, the Yagshygeldi Kakaev International Oil and Gas University and the China University of Petroleum on the establishment of a joint Turkmen-Chinese Energy Training Center aimed at developing international cooperation in the energy sector.
Within the framework of this Agreement, in order to train highly qualified specialists for Turkmenistan’s oil and gas sector and to study the experience of relevant higher education institutions, faculty members of the Yagshygeldi Kakaev International Oil and Gas University are attending advanced training courses at the China University of Petroleum in Beijing from June 21 to June 28, 2026.
On June 22, 2026, an official opening ceremony was held at the China University of Petroleum for advanced training courses for the academic staff of the Yagshygeldi Kakaev International Oil and Gas University. The training is conducted within the framework of the joint Turkmen-Chinese Energy Training Center. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the People’s Republic of China, the administration and faculty of the China University of Petroleum, as well as faculty members of the Yagshygeldi Kakaev International Oil and Gas University.
In their speeches, the participants noted the successful development of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education, science, and the training of highly qualified specialists. Special attention was given to the high level of the Turkmen-Chinese strategic partnership. During the working meetings, the parties discussed further improvement of the quality of education in relevant fields, the expansion of experience exchange between higher education institutions in the oil and gas sector, as well as the implementation of new joint educational and scientific projects. After the meeting, the faculty members of the Yagshygeldi Kakaev International Oil and Gas University and representatives of the Embassy of Turkmenistan held a meeting with Turkmen students studying at the China University of Petroleum.
