On June 22–23, 2026, the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, paid a state visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. The bilateral talks held during the visit, along with the declarations and agreements signed, clearly demonstrated the significance of cooperation between the two countries. The state visit of the esteemed President to the Republic of Azerbaijan marked an important milestone in the history of the two states and will provide fresh impetus to the further strengthening of Turkmen-Azerbaijani relations.
As emphasized during the speeches, the current stage of the strategic partnership between the two countries is characterized by high-level political dialogue, which defines clear directions for the further development of bilateral relations. Trade, economic, and energy cooperation constitute the cornerstone of interaction between the two states.
The substantial hydrocarbon reserves possessed by both countries create broad opportunities for coordinating efforts in the global energy market and implementing large-scale infrastructure projects. The trilateral cooperation format of Turkmenistan–Azerbaijan–Uzbekistan is aimed at establishing an integrated transport and logistics system and promoting industrial development by combining the transit potential of the three brotherly states.
On June 25, 2026, the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University, in cooperation with the “Altyn Asyr” TV Channel, prepared a political discussion dedicated to Turkmenistan–Azerbaijan cooperation, which was presented to television audiences.
