MEETING BETWEEN THE MINISTERS OF EDUCATION OF TURKMENISTAN AND GEORGIA

Within the framework of the state visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Georgia, a meeting took place between the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, J. Gurbangeldiyev, and the Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Givi Mikanadze.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on ways to further broaden cooperation in education, science and youth affairs. Special emphasis was placed on fostering direct partnerships between higher education institutions in Turkmenistan and Georgia, expanding opportunities for the academic mobility of students and teaching staff, and promoting joint research, conferences, professional placements and educational initiatives.

The parties identified medicine, energy, the oil and gas industry, architecture and construction, transport, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, STEAM education and cybersecurity as key areas with strong potential for future cooperation.

The following bilateral documents in the field of education were signed as part of the official visit:

— Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Education between the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia.

— Memorandum of Understanding on Bilateral Cooperation between the Maya Kulyyeva Turkmen National Conservatory and the Vano Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire;

— Memorandum on Cooperation between Magtymguly Turkmen State University, Turkmenistan, and the Legal Entity of Public Law “Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University,” Georgia;

— Memorandum of Understanding between Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University, Turkmenistan, and Georgian Technical University;

— Memorandum of Understanding between the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction and Georgian Technical University;

— Memorandum of Understanding between the Institute of Engineering, Technical and Transport Communications of Turkmenistan and Batumi State Maritime Academy, Georgia;

The signed documents are aimed at strengthening the legal framework for cooperation, developing inter-university ties, expanding academic exchanges and implementing joint educational and scientific projects.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that the agreements reached would give fresh impetus to the further development of Turkmen-Georgian cooperation.
