NEW “CHORAL STUDIES” TEXTBOOK PUBLISHED FOR SPECIALISED MUSIC AND ART SCHOOLS

A new textbook entitled “Choral Studies” has been published for specialised music and art schools. Written by B.Berdiyew, the textbook was published in 2026 by the State Publishing Service of Turkmenistan. It is primarily intended for students specialising in choral conducting and music teaching and covers key areas related to their professional training.

The main purpose of the textbook is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of choral art, including its origins and historical development, types and structure of choirs, performance techniques, ensemble work, vocal and choral characteristics, and relevant professional terminology. It also introduces approaches to analysing choral works and developing practical skills in working with choirs.

The publication gives particular attention to practical aspects of choral education, including working with children’s choirs, organisational responsibilities of choir directors, professional preparation, vocal exercises, and a cappella repertoire recommended for choral groups at specialised music schools. The new textbook is expected to serve as a valuable educational and methodological resource for students, teachers and anyone interested in the history and development of choral art.
