On September 2, 2026, a meeting was held at the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University between the university’s faculty members and the Georgian delegation led by Zviad Gabisonia, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia. During the meeting, the sides discussed issues related to the exchange of experience in the fields of higher education, science and professional training, the development of academic relations, as well as the identification of new areas of cooperation.
At the beginning of the meeting, representatives of the university’s faculty informed the guests about the ongoing work, under the leadership of the Esteemed President of Turkmenistan Arkadagly Hero Serdar, to improve the national education system in accordance with contemporary requirements, introduce modern knowledge and advanced scientific and technological achievements into the educational process, and train highly qualified young specialists.
The members of the Georgian delegation were provided with detailed information about the faculties and departments of the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University, the specialties and educational programmes offered, as well as the university’s scientific research activities. The guests were also shown a brief video presentation dedicated to the activities of the higher education institution.
Particular attention during the meeting was paid to the university’s effective international cooperation with leading foreign oil and gas companies. In particular, it was noted that mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of science, education and the oil and gas industry has been successfully developing for a number of years on the basis of agreements and memoranda concluded with the United Arab Emirates’ oil and gas company “Dragon Oil”, Malaysia’s “Petronas”, and the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).
Zviad Gabisonia, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, expressed his gratitude for the high-level organization of the meeting and provided information about the activities of Georgia’s higher education institutions, the specialties and educational programmes they offer, as well as their ongoing scientific research.
He highlighted the opportunities for further developing and enriching with new content the cooperation between Georgian higher education institutions and the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University on the basis of the memoranda of cooperation previously concluded in the fields of science and education.
In this regard, the importance of expanding direct contacts among faculty members, young researchers and students, exchanging experience, and developing joint research projects was emphasized.
At the conclusion of the meeting, members of the Georgian delegation visited the faculties, departments, museums and laboratories of the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University, as well as the Lu Ban Workshop in Turkmenistan, in order to gain a closer insight into the university’s activities.
The meeting was held in an atmosphere of mutual respect, goodwill and strong interest in developing effective cooperation. The sides emphasized the importance of further developing ties in the fields of science and education and jointly exploring new areas of cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the members of the Georgian delegation expressed their gratitude for the warm reception and substantive exchange of views.
