Results of the ranking of higher education institutions of Turkmenistan in various categories announced

The results of the ranking assessment of higher education institutions of Turkmenistan for the 2025–2026 academic year have been announced. The ranking was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of reforms implemented in the higher education system, encourage the activities of universities, faculties, departments, and academic staff, and strengthen the country’s position in the international educational and scientific community.

Based on the indicators established in the Regulation on the Ranking Assessment of Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, leading universities, faculties, departments, and outstanding professors and teachers were identified through automatically calculated results in the digital platform rating.bilim.tm.

Among higher education institutions that demonstrated the highest results, based on the average score per professor and teacher taking into account the number of academic staff, the first-degree diploma was awarded to the Turkmen State Institute of Finance (18.95 points). The second-degree diploma was awarded to the Aba Annaev International Academy of Horse Breeding (17.40 points), while the third-degree diploma went to the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan (17.18 points).

Among faculties, the Faculty of Information Technologies of the International University for the Humanities and Development took first place (37.39 points). The Faculty of Digital Technologies and Cybersecurity of the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University ranked second (25.80 points), while the Faculty of Radio Communication Technologies of the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan took third place (24.30 points).

Among departments, the highest results were recorded by the Department of Exact and Natural Sciences of the International University for the Humanities and Development (60.66 points). The Department of Cybersecurity of the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University ranked second (51.36 points), and the Department of Languages of the International University for the Humanities and Development ranked third (48.73 points).

The ranking results also recognized professors and teachers who demonstrated outstanding achievements in the international educational and scientific community.

For the highest Hirsch index indicator (h-index=7), Bekgylych Hakberdiyevich Agayev, Acting Head of the Department of Natural Sciences and Computer Technologies at the Aba Annaev International Academy of Horse Breeding, was recognized.

For articles published in scientific journals included in the CiteScore Q2 quartile ranking, recognition was given to Maksat Kurbandurdyyevich Bugrayev, Lecturer at the Department of Theory and Practice of the Russian Language at the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages; Dinmuhammet Tekaev, Lecturer at the Department of History of Turkmenistan and Methods of Teaching History at the Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute; as well as the academic staff team of the Institute of Engineering and Transport Communications of Turkmenistan.

Maksat Kurbandurdyyevich Bugrayev was recognized for his article “Tutoring as a form of support for the adaptation of foreign students at the university”, published in the scientific journal “Perspectives of Science and Education”. Dinmuhammet Tekaev was recognized for the article “Discussion around the addressee of the ahd-name of the Anushteginid era”, published in the “Journal of BSU. History”. The academic staff team of the Institute of Engineering and Transport Communications of Turkmenistan received high recognition for the scientific work “Superstatistics properties of the Kane oscillator”, published in “The European Physical Journal (EPJ)”.

The ranking results represent one of the important indicators of the effectiveness of higher education institutions in education, science, and innovation, and contribute to encouraging advanced experience among education professionals and developing scientific activity at the international level. On September 12, an award ceremony dedicated to the results of the ranking assessment of higher education institutions and the “Teacher of the Year — 2026” State Competition was held in the conference hall of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. During the ceremony, leading higher education institutions, faculties, and departments identified by the ranking results, as well as professors and teachers who demonstrated outstanding achievements, were awarded.
