Turkmen athletes won 11 medals at the Central Asian Championships in Tashkent

Athletes from the Turkmenistan national track and field team won 11 medals—2 gold, 7 silver, and 2 bronze—at the 3rd Central Asian Open Championship held in Tashkent. The medals were won in short- and middle-distance running, relays, hammer throw, and shot put. This was reported by the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper.

At the conclusion of the tournament, the Uzbekistan team took first place in the overall standings, followed by Kazakhstan in second place and Turkmenistan in third.

More than 500 athletes from nine countries—Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Singapore, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and Georgia—participated in the competition. Turkmenistan’s national team was represented by 12 athletes across various age categories.

Enejan Esedova won the gold medal in the 400-meter race with a time of 54,93 seconds, adding silver medals in the 4x100m and mixed 4x400m relays. Mergen Mamedov secured another gold for the team by throwing the hammer a distance of 70,90 meters.

Gurbannazar Kakajayev won the silver medal in the shot put (15,79 meters). Valentina Meredova, who represented the country at the Olympic Games in Beijing (2008) and Paris (2024), claimed bronze in the 100-meter race and silver in the mixed 4x100-meter relay. Her trainees—Gurban Orazov and Aisha Charyyeva—also reached the podium in relay events.
