New Opportunities for Developing Cooperation in Education between Turkmenistan and One of the Leading Higher Education Institutions of the Republic of Korea Discussed

Within the framework of the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Korea, a meeting was held between Minister of Education of Turkmenistan J.Gurbangeldiýew and Yoo Ji-bom, Head of Sungkyunkwan University of the Republic of Korea.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister expressed gratitude for the awarding of the honorary degree of Doctor of Political Science of Sungkyunkwan University to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

During the meeting, opportunities for further developing the traditional friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea in the field of education, as well as implementing joint projects in new areas, were discussed.

It was noted that to date, a number of agreements and memoranda of various kinds have been concluded between the two countries in the field of education, creating a solid legal foundation for cooperation. At the same time, the signing of another Memorandum of Understanding with Sungkyunkwan University during the current official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea was described as an important step that gives new substance to relations between the educational institutions of the two countries.

The effective nature of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea in the field of education was particularly emphasized. During the meeting, it was noted that cooperation in digital technologies and access to information is also one of the important areas of partnership.

It was also emphasized that talented schoolchildren and students of higher education institutions from the two countries participate in and successfully perform at international conferences, exhibitions, and international competitions in various disciplines held in Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea.

During the meeting, specific proposals were put forward to elevate cooperation with Sungkyunkwan University to a new level. Founded in 1398, the university has more than 600 years of rich academic traditions, which today are combined with advanced scientific fields such as artificial intelligence, new energy, engineering, and other cutting-edge areas of research.

It was noted that the proposals put forward during the meeting would help bring educational cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea to a more practical level, expand relations between higher education institutions, enhance academic opportunities for young people and scholars, and promote joint activities in modern scientific and technological fields.

It was emphasized that the combination of the rich scientific potential of Sungkyunkwan University and the creative potential of the youth of Turkmenistan provides broad opportunities for implementing new long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation projects.
