Phytomechanical Water Treatment System Developed
Taking into account the specific climatic and environmental conditions of Turkmenistan, a phytomechanical water treatment system (PMWTS) has been developed to enable the reuse of drainage water for agricultural purposes. The phytomechanical water treatment system was constructed near a drainage channel flowing through the experimental area of the Institute of General and Applied Biology of Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan, located in the northern part of Ashgabat.
The new system is designed not only to treat wastewater through the use of plants, but also to combine phytoremediation with mechanical treatment methods. This integrated approach is of significant importance for the efficient use of water resources and for improving the quality of drainage water.
During the experiments, water treated by the PMWTS was used to irrigate trees and vegetable crops in the experimental area. Research activities related to the system are currently ongoing.
The results of this research are aimed at exploring new opportunities for the effective treatment of drainage water under the conditions of Turkmenistan and its subsequent use for agricultural purposes.
